Thomas L. West, age 85, of Pinehurst, died Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst, NC.
A native of Lansford, PA he was a son of the late LeRoy and Olga West. Tom grew up in Coaldale, PA, and resided in the Lehigh Valley before settling in Pinehurst. He was a graduate of Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology in Lancaster, PA and a retired printer. He moved to Pinehurst in 1983 and worked for Golf World Magazine. In 1987 he founded Whistle Stop Press in Southern Pines and operated it until 2005. Tom was a longtime member of the Barbershop Harmony Society and the Rotary Club of Southern Pines, where he served as president. Tom also served on the Board of FirstHealth Foundation.
He was preceded in death by his wife Sandra Koch West.
He is survived by his daughter Wendy West Hickey and her husband Bob of Pittsburgh. PA; sons Thomas West and wife Nancy of Portland, CT, David West and wife Debbie of NJ & FL; brother Fred West and wife Kris of Jacksonville, FL; sister Mary Ann Kowalyshyn of Stroudsburg, PA; and three grandchildren Rob, Shannon and K.C.
A celebration of remembrance will be held at a later date.
