John Kinlaw Shaw, ll (Ken) passed away on Monday, January 8th at First Health Reid Heart Center, Pinehurst, NC. Ken was born on February 26, 1970 in Pinehurst, NC. He attended schools in Southern Pines and Fayetteville, NC and graduated from the Law Enforcement Academy at Fayetteville Technical Community College. Ken worked in law enforcement in Moore County for 17 plus years prior to his illness. His illness lasted 8 years and he was taken from us at the young age of 47.

Ken is survived by the three loves of his life, two daughters, Brooke Taylor Shaw and Whitney Katherine Gupton and a son Hunter Kinlaw Shaw, all of Southern Pines. Ken has one brother Wesley Watson Shaw, his sister in law Sarah, niece Caroline and a nephew Will Shaw all of Charlotte, NC. His parents John and Libby Shaw are residents of Southern Pines.

Ken was a beloved father, son, uncle and brother. Ken loved the outdoors especially family trips to Emerald Isle Beach and Sapphire Valley both in North Carolina. He was an avid hunter in his younger years and was an advocate of firearms safety. He was a K9 handler while in law enforcement and had a real love for animals.

Visitation will be on Thursday, January 11th from 6:00-8:00 pm at Boles Funeral Home, 425 W. Pennsylvania Avenue. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
