Dr. William Taylor Kamp passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 17th, 2018 at First Health Moore Regional Hospital. He was born on February 24th, 1930 in St Louis, MO to the late Carl Otto Kamp and Nancy Smith Kamp. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Mary Kamp Senne, daughter; Carl O. Kamp Jr., brother and Mary Anna Woods, granddaughter.
Bill was a graduate of Washington University and St. Louis University Medical School. He served in the U.S. Airforce and then completed his surgical residency in Michigan. Bill’s career as a doctor spanned 30 years beginning in Illinois and continuing as the “Lakeside Doctor” after his retirement. He was a husband, father, grandfather, and mentor. He was a gifted surgeon, loved playing golf, enjoyed gardening and bird watching, and was a fixer of all things.
Left to honor Bill and remember his love are his wife of 67 years, Janis D. Kamp, his three children, Laura Kamp Woods (Rick), William Taylor Kamp Jr (Amy), Sarah Kamp Krauser and nine grandchildren; Kellen Woods (Mackenzie), Rebecca Woods (Michael Doran), Will Kamp III, Connor Kamp, Aidan Kamp, Chloe Kamp, Jennie Krauser, Madison Krauser, Thomas K. Krauser and one great-grandchild, Isabella Doran.
Bill Kamp’s memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 4:00 PM in Belle Meade Chapel (Belle Meade Retirement Community Chapel in Pinehurst) with Rev. Archie Stevens officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials made be made in Bill’s name to Moore Free Care Clinic, 211 Trimble Plant Road, Suite C, Southern Pines, NC 28387.
