One airlifted after crash one mile from county line

At approximately 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, State Trooper Thompson responded to a wreck in Lee County, one mile from the Moore County line on Nicholson Road in Cameron.

The cause of the one-person, single-vehicle wreck was hard to determine, according to Thompson. The car was on its side in a small bed of soybeans when emergency services arrived.

Duke Life Flight was called as a precaution, as Thompson said the person was talking and responsive. The helicopter landed at the cleared land behind Beaver Creek Clubhouse on Nicholson Road to transport the patient to an area trauma center.

Lemon Springs Fire Department responded to help two highway patrolmen. As the helicopter arrived, local sheriff deputies and area firefighters, including the Tramway Fire Chief, were at the scene.

The patient’s condition is unknown at this time.
