Just before 9 a.m. Tuesday, authorities were called to the area of Lynch Road and Union Church Road, near Carthage, for a single-vehicle accident.
A log truck had overturned dumping a load of logs onto the road. The truck also took out a power pole, brought down multiple lines, and caused a diesel spill.
An off-duty firefighter came upon the scene and was able to make contact with the patient. He told 911 that the patient was up and walking around on his own. The driver was not taken to the hospital.
Union Church Road from both ends of Husley Rd is closed until further notice.
Department of Transportation was called to remove the logs, so Duke Energy can restore the damage pole and lines, allowing a tow company to safely remove the truck.
The cause of the accident is being investigated by the State Highway Patrol.
Responding to the scene were Carthage Fire and Rescue, Cypress Point Fire and Rescue, State Highway Patrol, Moore County Sheriff’s Office, Moore County EMS, NC-DOT and Duke Energy.
