Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields says a passenger of a vehicle fled on foot after a traffic stop in Vass on Thursday.
Deputies with the Moore County Sheriff’s Department pulled the vehicle over in the 100 block of Union Church Road.
“During the traffic stop, the passenger of the vehicle fled on foot and was apprehended a short distance from the vehicle,” said Fields in a news statement. “During the traffic stop, Deputies located cocaine and items of drug paraphernalia.”
Alfonzo Knight Jr, 33, of Greensboro, and Nautica Scarboro, 22, of Asheboro, are each facing charges of trafficking in cocaine by possession, trafficking in cocaine by transport, two counts of conspire to traffic in cocaine by possession, possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, felony possession of cocaine, maintaining a vehicle/dwelling place for controlled substances, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Scarboro was also charged with resisting a public officer.
Fields did not state which suspect fled the scene.
Both suspects were placed at the Moore County Detention Center where their bonds were set at $75,000.
They are due in court on Dec. 1 and are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
