A pedestrian was struck by a car on Saunders Boulevard on the Southern Pines/Aberdeen border on Thursday night. The incident occurred just after 9 p.m. near the intersection of U.S. 1.

According to radio traffic, air care was initially requested but was unable to fly due to weather conditions. The patient was instead transported by Moore County EMS via ambulance to the hospital for immediate treatment. His condition is currently undisclosed at this time. 

Authorities on the scene told Sandhills Sentinel that this is an ongoing investigation. No contributing factors were given.
