The Village of Pinehurst will hold a Community Kick-Off event on Wednesday, June 27th at the Fair Barn for the Long Range Comprehensive Plan project, “Envision the Village.” Hosted by the Village of Pinehurst and planning consultant Town Planning and Urban Design Collaborative, LLC (TPUDC), the purpose of this meeting is to provide residents and stakeholders with an understanding of the long range planning process, begin to discuss the community’s vison, and help build community excitement.

Children ages 5-12 who attend will engage in their own planning activities during the event, with other games and activities provided. Complementary refreshments will also be available for all participants.

This Community Kick-Off Meeting is the first of multiple opportunities for Pinehurst residents to contribute to the long range plan. Envision the Village will be an 18-month planning process conducted by the Village of Pinehurst with the key goals of identifying the community’s desired vision for the Village’s future, indicating community priorities, and articulating strategies to address those priorities.

The Long Range Comprehensive Plan will be a key policy and action document that staff, elected and appointed officials, and others can use as a guide for future land use development, capital investment, and growth management decisions over the next 20 years.

The updated Comprehensive Plan will guide growth and development in an organized, efficient, and sustainable manner. To do so, it will look to the future to anticipate trends and issues that could impact how growth and development occur. The plan will be long range in scope, focusing on the ultimate needs of the community rather than the pressing concerns of today.

The Village encourages all residents, businesses, and other interested individuals to attend Envision the Village public meetings, including the Community Kick-Off.

“This is an exciting time for the Village of Pinehurst as we embark on this very important planning process to help shape the future of the Village. We hope all residents participate in the process and believe broad citizen participation will be the key to success. We encourage residents to gather their friends and neighbors and come to the Community Kick-Off at 6:30 pm on June 27th at the Fair Barn,” said Mayor Nancy Fiorillo.

Over the next year as the plan is developed, several other public meetings and visioning sessions will be held to clarify the community’s vision for the future and obtain feedback on the plan.

Future public events include: Visioning Sessions on August 29th and a hands-on event called PlanapaloozaTM to be held from September 19th through September 24th.
