Police chief third in Pinehurst history to graduate from FBI Academy

Pinehurst Police Chief Glen Webb recently graduated as a member of the 286th session of the FBI National Academy.

The graduation took place at the National Academy in Quantico, Virginia on June 8. Chief Webb is only the third officer in department history to complete this prestigious program. Nationally, fewer than one percent of officers have the opportunity to attend the program.

“Not only did Chief Webb complete this rigorous training, but he also earned the respect of his peers by being elected Section B representative,” said Village of Pinehurst Manager Jeff Sanborn. “This is a testament to the solid leadership we have come to expect from Chief Webb.”

Internationally known for its academic excellence, the National Academy offers 10 weeks of advanced communication, leadership, and fitness training. Participants must have proven records as professionals within their agencies to attend. On average, these officers have 21 years of law enforcement experience and usually return to their agencies to serve in executive-level positions.

The 286th session consisted of two hundred and thirty-eight law enforcement officers from 47 states and the District of Columbia. The class included members of law enforcement agencies from 25 countries, five military organizations, and six federal civilian organizations.

Webb began his law enforcement career as a police officer with the Tarboro Police Department in 1999. In 2004, he returned to his hometown of Greenville, NC, accepting a patrol officer position with the Greenville Police Department. Glen served in various roles within GPD, including patrol officer, Special Victims Unit Detective, Major Crimes Detective, Internal Affairs Investigator, and Zone Supervisor.

In 2018, he accepted the position of Deputy Chief of Police for the Pinehurst Police Department. Following the retirement of Chief Earl Phipps in 2020, Glen was promoted, becoming Pinehurst’s 9th chief of police.

Webb earned an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice from Pitt Community College, a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Leadership from East Carolina University, a Master’s Degree from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke in Business Administration, and completed the 89th Session of the Administrative Officers Management Program at North Carolina State University as well as the 286th Session of the FBI National Academy.
