The Southern Pines Police Department is investigating three shootings that occurred over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.Â
“These incidents are under investigation and we hope additional information will be gleaned through the investigative process,” said Southern Pines Police Captain Charles Campbell.
Someone fired shots into an “occupied dwelling” on Saturday afternoon just before 5 p.m. in the 100 block of S. Carlisle Street. “The homeowner reported the shooting but was unable to provide any additional details or information as to a possible suspect(s),” said Campbell.
Two other shootings were reported on Sunday.
“Two male victims traveling by vehicle in the 500 Block of Rothney Ave. reported being shot at by unknown suspects,” said Campbell. “The driver of the vehicle, 17 year old white male from Vass was shot in the leg and has sustained a non-life-threatening injury. The victim reported that he and a second male were in the area looking at a residence that he (victim 1) had previously done some landscaping work at the time they were shot at.”
The other Sunday shooting occurred just before midnight in the 400 block of Shaw Ave. The resident “reported that an unknown male knocked on his door,” said Campbell. “When he opened the door, two unknown males shot several times striking the residence.” No one was hurt.
There have been no arrests made yet, and it’s unclear if the shootings were related.
