Sandhills Bogeys names new general manager

The Sandhills Bogeys announced the hiring of Jay Francis as the team’s new general manager, ushering in a new era for the organization as it prepares for the 2025 season. With over 30 years of experience in sports media and executive leadership, Jay brings a long track record and a deep passion for the game of baseball to the Sandhills community.

“Jay’s career includes nearly a decade of directing local coverage for the Baltimore Orioles, providing unmatched expertise in sports broadcasting and production,” said the Bogeys ownership group in a press release. “Following his success in Baltimore, Jay spent 18 years with ESPN as Director and Senior Production Executive, overseeing some of the network’s most iconic programs, including Baseball TonightCollege GameDay, and SportsCenter. His leadership at ESPN earned him an extraordinary 16 National Emmy Awards and recognition as Connecticut Women in Broadcasting’s 2016 Executive Advocate of the Year.”

A resident of Moore County since 2017, Jay has already established strong ties to the community. Outside of work, he enjoys attending MLB games nationwide with his children and dedicating his time to Carolina Boxer Rescue.
