Sandhills Emergency Physicians honors emergency nurses

Sandhills Emergency Physicians has honored five emergency nurses for their efforts to care for patients.

Alex Kittleson, R.N., CEN, SANE-P, TNCC, NRP; Elaine LeRoy, R.N., TNCC; Brittnee Benton, R.N., CEN; Daniella Reilly, R.N.; and Elyssa McKenzie, R.N., TNCC, have all been recognized as emergency nurses of the year.

The nurse of the year is chosen annually from among all the emergency department nurses in the four FirstHealth hospitals staffed by the Sandhills Emergency Physicians specialty practice—FirstHealth Moore Regional in Pinehurst, FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital-Richmond in Rockingham, FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital-Hoke in Raeford, in addition to FirstHealth Montgomery Memorial Hospital in Troy.

Scott Hollrah, M.D., director of emergency medicine at Moore Regional Hospital, said the work of the five honorees deserves special attention.

“It takes a team approach to provide emergency care, and these women exemplify exactly what it means to work as a team,” Dr. Hollrah said. “The pandemic has created challenges many of us could have never imagined, but they have consistently done their best each day to live up to FirstHealth’s core purpose – To Care for People. We are thankful for their efforts and happy to recognize them all this year.”
