Sandhills PRIDE is excited to announce the expansion of its Board of Directors with the approval of three members: Frank Roque (new to the board), and Michael Edwards and Kevin Brewer (returning members).

“Sandhills PRIDE is now in our sixth year, and we have established a reputation as the go-to local LGBTQ advocate and organizer,” said Christopher Brady, Board Chair for Sandhills PRIDE. “We are deeply grateful to the committed volunteers, supporters, and community partners who have worked with us to increase awareness and acceptance of the LGBTQ community here at home. We’re now increasing our capacity for advocacy and are excited to welcome Frank and to welcome back Michael and Kevin to our board.”

Roque is a retired attorney and former executive with Hewitt Associates, a global consulting firm. Following his tenure with Hewitt, he worked as a volunteer consultant with the University of Illinois Student Affairs Division and the Illinois Leadership Center. His background in creating institutional structures comes at a perfect time for Sandhills PRIDE as it seeks to expand its outreach and programming.

Both Edwards and Brewer are past Chairs of the organization. They are excited by the health and growth of Sandhills PRIDE and are returning to work towards its expansion. Edwards was the founding Chair, while under Brewer the Sandhills PRIDE Student Scholarship grew to accept applications from high school seniors across the Sandhills.

Due to the expansion of its Board of Directors, Sandhills PRIDE is still accepting applications from qualified individuals interested in working towards increased awareness and acceptance of LGTBQ people and dedicated to advocacy.
