Moore County Schools announced Thursday that a threat was circulating on social media.
“We want to inform you that we are aware of a threat circulating on social media,” said the school district in a message to families. “The Moore County Schools Police have investigated this matter and have determined that the threat is non-credible. We ask that all parents take this opportunity to remind your children about the seriousness and consequences of communicating any type of threat, whether in person or online. The safety and well-being of our students and staff remain our top priority, and we are committed to providing a safe environment for everyone in our schools.”
No other details were released.
Thursday’s announcement follows three non-credible threats to Aberdeen and Cameron Elementary schools and Pinecrest High School the week of Sept. 9.
Regarding the previous threats, Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields said, “Evidence shows that this threat is part of a pattern of similar threats occurring recently across the state.”
