Southern Pines collision causes traffic delays

A crash occurred in front of State Employees Credit Union on Highway 15-501 in Southern Pines just before 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The collision caused delays as firefighters and police officers shut down the turning lane and the left northbound lane for an extended time.

Of the two vehicles involved, the Hyundai suffered minor damage to the front driver’s side, while the front end of the Dodge sustained heavy damage. 

The female driver of the Hyundai was taken to the hospital by Moore County EMS. Her condition is unknown but believed to be stable.

Four occupants were in the Dodge Dart, and EMS checked them out on the scene.

The Southern Pines Police Department is investigating the accident.
