SPPD announces patrol lieutenant promotions

Southern Pines Police Department announced in a press release its patrol lieutenant promotions.

On May 3, the Southern Pines Police Department conducted a comprehensive promotional assessment center for the rank of lieutenant, where candidates were evaluated by law enforcement and emergency services professionals from outside of the agency on their knowledge, skills and abilities to perform in this assignment.

Lieutenant Brandon Lugabihl and Lieutenant George Britt have been promoted. 

Lieutenant Lugabihl is a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill, having received a bachelor’s degree in management and society and is a 17-year law enforcement veteran. Lugabihl is assigned as a watch commander in the patrol division. Lugabihl is a certified general instructor, taser instructor, field training officer, traffic crash reconstructionist, rapid deployment instructor, and he is the commander of the crisis negotiations team.

Lieutenant Britt is a graduate of Chowan College, having received a bachelor’s degree in physical education and a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and is a 19-year law enforcement veteran. Britt is assigned as a watch commander in the patrol division. Britt is an experienced detective from when he worked at the Scotland County Sheriff’s Office. Britt served as a K-9 handler for the Southern Pines Police Department and is a prior member of the agency’s special response team.
