A Storage Shed caught on fire while the homeowner was inside it and managed to get out safely due to her son yelling to alert her.
The fire ignited around 3:00 pm Thursday afternoon and emergency crews were there within minutes.
Firefighters extinguishing the last flames
The shed, located on Juniper Lake Road near the corner of Richmond Street, was fully engulfed as the first fire engine arrived.  Fire crews worked to contain the fire from a wooded area behind the shed and home.
Firefighters assessing the damage
Fire crews quickly contained the fire before it spread to the woods or house. The storage building was a complete loss; however, no one was injured. The homeowner is a recent widow, and the shed was once her husband’s workshop and contained many of his belongings.
The cause of the fire is currently being investigated.
Responding to the scene were Eastwood Fire Department, Pinehurst Fire & Rescue, and NC Forestry.
