Two-alarm fire displaces family

A family of two was displaced Thursday after a two-alarm fire destroyed their house. A neighbor called 9-1-1 to report the fire just after 9 a.m.

Firefighters arrived to heavy flames and smoke coming from the home on Wrentree Court in West End. It took first responders approximately 45 minutes to get the fire under control due to the heavy flames coming from the attic. A ladder truck was brought in from Aberdeen to help fight the fire from above.

No one was home at the time of the fire, but the family’s dog did not survive.

Investigators will now look into the cause of the fire, which they say seems to have started around the back of the house.

The Red Cross responded to the scene to assist the family. Responding fire departments included Seven Lakes, West End, Eagle Springs, Eastwood, Aberdeen, Pinehurst, Pinebluff, and Carthage.

A GoFundMe page has been created.
