The holiday season is a fitting time to give back to the community, and the United Way of Moore County is offering a chance to win a luxurious golf getaway while supporting a worthy cause.
The organization’s annual raffle features a grand prize of a three-day, two-night golf package for two at Pinehurst Resort. The package includes deluxe accommodations, daily breakfast and dinner, and a round of golf each day, with greens fees, carts, and practice range access included. One of those rounds will be on the iconic Pinehurst No. 2 course, designed by golf course architect Donald Ross.
Tickets are $100 each, with only 100 available. The drawing will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 20. Sales close 30 minutes prior or when sold out. Tickets can be purchased online at TicketMeSandhills.com.
More Than Just a Raffle
While the golf getaway is a tempting prize, the real winner is the Moore County community. United Way Moore County has been working for 56 years to improve the lives of residents by providing access to programs that promote self-sufficiency. The organization partners with and funds 13 local charitable organizations and 14 programs, focusing on areas critical to community well-being: health, financial stability, and education.
“Our partnerships create opportunities for success and a decent life, especially for those facing daily challenges,” said United Way Moore County President Linda Pearson. “United Way ensures resources are available to assist people in need.”
The organization’s impact extends beyond everyday support. In December 2022, after widespread power outages left many residents without power, United Way Moore County discovered that local daycares had lost thousands of dollars worth of perishable food. Through its partnerships, the organization verified costs and losses and partnered with Duke Energy and Lowes Foods to help the centers recover. This vital assistance highlighted the importance of daycare centers in providing balanced meals for many children.
United Way Moore County also supports Friend to Friend, which assists victims of domestic abuse and human trafficking. This partnership allows Friend to Friend to leverage matching grants, doubling the impact of their funding from United Way. Additionally, a collaboration with the American Red Cross ensures they can continue providing disaster relief services to Moore County residents.
