Hoke Co. shelter cats issue 'press release' for potential adopters

Following a surge of intakes in recent weeks, the nearby Hoke County Animal Shelter is seeking adopters for some of the shelter’s cats. According to the shelter, cats tend to stay at the facility longer and receive less engagement compared to their canine counterparts.

As such, “the cats” have issued a “press release,” which can be found below.

To Whom It May Concern (and by “concern” we mean THE INTERNET),

We, the undersigned Shelter Cats, would like to formally address a very serious issue:

The dogs are getting ALL. THE. ATTENTION.

Every time a dog is posted:
• 43 comments saying “I’m crying”

When a cat is posted:
• 1 comment from someone’s aunt asking, “Is this the same one from last week?”

Excuse us???

We would like to remind you that we:
✔️ Are adorable 24/7
✔️ Come with built-in purring sound machines
✔️ Don’t need to go outside in the rain at 6 a.m.
✔️ Will sit on your laptop to ensure proper work-life balance
✔️ Are experts at loafing and emotional support staring

This is a formal request for equal opportunity sharing. Like the cats. Comment on the cats. Share the cats. Adopt the cats.

Or we will begin sitting directly in front of the camera every time you try to photograph a dog.

Respectfully (but dramatically),
The Shelter Cats
