Driver escapes serious injury in Star rollover

Emergency crews responded to a rollover in the 1800 block of Jason Road in Star on Wednesday around 5:45 p.m.

On scene, witnesses told the Sandhills Sentinel that the Buick was reportedly driving south on Jason Road when the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle, went off the road, and came to rest on the passenger side facing the direction it came from.

The single occupant avoided life-threatening injuries but was transported to the hospital to be further evaluated.

Due to the impact of the crash, the vehicle sustained heavy all-over damage. The windshield was shattered, the body was warped, and airbags were deployed.

Authorities on scene did not disclose the cause of the crash.

The Westmoore Fire Department and Moore County EMS were among the units that responded to the incident.
