Wanted man arrested on drug, gun charges

A man from Aberdeen is facing several charges after being pulled over by Southern Pines Police on Midland Road.

“On February 8, 2024 at approximately 6:26 pm, officers of the Southern Pines Police Department’s Directed Patrol Unit conducted a traffic stop on Midland Road for a vehicle driven by a person with active arrests warrants and a suspended driver’s license,” wrote Southern Pines Police Department in a press release. “During the arrest and subsequent investigation, quantities of Cocaine, Psychedelic Mushrooms and Marijuana were located. Officers also found a loaded concealed handgun in the vehicle.”

Jamal King, 27, is facing charges of possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, felony possession of cocaine, possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, possession of schedule I controlled substance, possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver schedule I controlled substance, carrying a concealed weapon, possess up to ½ ounce, possession of marijuana paraphernalia and driving while license suspended.

Defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
