Aberdeen Police say a 25-year-old woman from High Point is facing charges after being arrested for attempting to sell a rental vehicle to a salvage yard.
The case began on June 20 when Rent-a-Wreck, on N. Sandhills Blvd., told Aberdeen officers one of their rental vehicles was stolen.Â
In a media release issued on July 10, the Aberdeen Police Department said the vehicle was rented to “Mr. Marshall” on May 22, and he was paying for an extension on the rental but stopped payments on June 15, resulting in the return date of June 17. The man told officers he let his daughter use the vehicle.
As the case continued, investigators were notified on June 23 that the vehicle was pinging at a Greensboro salvage yard. “The tow operator advised that Jaquerra Marshall attempted to sell the vehicle as salvage,” said the police department. “After filling out the paperwork, the vehicle had come back stolen, and Ms. Marshall abandoned the vehicle in the salvage yard.”
Warrants were obtained on June 24 for Jaquerra Marshall for felony motor vehicle rental fraud and misdemeanor unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. She was apprehended by the Greensboro Police Department on June 26 and given a $5,000 secured bond.
