Woman accused of cashing forged checks worth $6K

The Aberdeen Police Department announced on Thursday that Christina Bromley-Turner, 48, of Rockingham, was arrested for cashing forged checks.

On Feb. 27, Aberdeen officers responded to Woodforest National Bank about fraud and forgery that had previously occurred.

“Upon arrival, Officers met with management and began to investigate the allegations, which led to the identification of Bromley-Turner,” said Aberdeen Police Chief Brian Chavis in a media release. “Officers began reviewing bank records, images, and statements and were able to verify that Bromley-Turner had previously obtained over $6,700 in currency from the bank by forging and presenting four separate fraudulent checks.”

Warrants were then obtained on Bromley-Turner for four counts of felony obtaining property by false pretenses and four counts of felony uttering a forged instrument.

The next day, Aberdeen investigators, with the assistance of the Rockingham Police Department, located Bromley-Turner. She was taken into custody and brought before a Moore County magistrate, where she was given a $25,000 secure bond.
