Woman accused of stealing $1,300 worth of Walmart merchandise

Thirty-seven-year-old Amanda Taylor, of Vass, is accused of stealing over $1,300 worth of merchandise from Walmart in Aberdeen.

Aberdeen Police received a report on July 7 regarding the alleged theft.

“Aberdeen Investigators obtained video surveillance of the incident and began disseminating the images of the suspect to local law enforcement, along with the public,” said Aberdeen Police Chief Brian Chavis in a news release on Thursday. “Investigators obtained several leads, and after following up on each one, they were able to identify Taylor as the suspect.”

Chavis said warrants were issued on Aug. 15 for Taylor for felony larceny and possession of stolen goods, and Aberdeen investigators attempted to locate her.

She was apprehended in Moore County on Sept. 25 and placed at the Moore County Detention Center under no immediate bond, pending bond set by a judge at a later date.

Defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
