Young dirt bike rider airlifted after crash

A young man was airlifted on Wednesday afternoon after crashing a dirt bike in Robbins. The crash occurred shortly after 3:30 p.m. in the 1100 block of Odell Road.

Authorities on scene told Sandhills Sentinel that the rider lost control of the dirt bike and crashed on the pavement.

Emergency crews transported the rider by ambulance a short distance from the scene to a nearby field, where a medical helicopter landed and flew him to a hospital. His condition was not immediately available.

Officials did not release additional details about the crash at the scene.

Responding units included Moore County EMS, the Moore County Sheriff’s Office, High Falls Fire Department and the North Carolina Highway Patrol.
