Moore Regional named to national top hospitals list for third straight year

Health officials in North Carolina report four new flu deaths, while a school canceled classes for the rest of the week and hospitals placed restrictions on visitors because of the outbreak.

For the year, 20 people have died from the flu in North Carolina.

Officials report a school in Matthews, N.C. has canceled classes Thursday and Friday after reports of a flu-like outbreak which has affected more than 160 students.

Locally, FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital is asking the public to use precautionary measures during the outbreak of the flu virus by only visiting immediate family only if absolutely necessary and not allowing children under 12 to visit the hospital.
