Aberdeen man charged with felony assault by strangulation

A man from Aberdeen was arrested after the Aberdeen Police Department said they were notified on Tuesday of an assault that occurred on Sunday in the Berkley community.

Forty-four-year-old Corey Rucker was arrested and jailed under no bond and is facing charges of felony assault by strangulation and crime of domestic violence.

“The victim, who was in a dating relationship with Rucker, advised that she was assaulted and strangled multiple times at her home,” said the Aberdeen Police Department in a news release. “Officers thoroughly investigated the allegations, and confirmed the victim’s account of events, based on visible injuries and victim and witness statements. The victim was treated for her injuries by Moore County EMS.”

Defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
