Man receives up to 27 years in prison for child sex crimes

A man from Aberdeen was arrested and booked in the Moore County Detention Center on sex charges against a minor early Monday morning.

Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields announced the arrest of Terrance Harris, 57, in a news release.

“On August 23rd, 2020, the Moore County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a minor who was sexually assaulted by an adult,” said Fields. “After further investigation, Detectives executed a search warrant and arrested the suspect at his residence.”

The alleged crime occurred in Aberdeen.

Harris was charged with one count of indecent liberties with a child and eight counts of first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

According to information from the North Carolina Department of Public Safety, Harris was incarcerated for second-degree sexual offense from 1995 until 2004.

The suspect’s bond was set at $75,000, has a Sept. 30 court date, and is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
