Almost 100 homes lost power Friday afternoon when a Honda Accord collided with a power pole on May Street in Southern Pines.
The female driver suffered minor injuries but was trapped by fallen power wires. Duke Energy responded and cut the power allowing the driver to be extracted and transported to Moore Regional Hospital. The driver hit several trees prior to hitting the pole.
Duke Energy projects affected homes should have power restored in 4 to 5 hours.
North Carolina State Highway Patrol, Moore County Sheriffs Department, Moore County EMS and Duke Energy all responded to the incident.
