Board briefed on Aberdeen Primary bidding

The Moore County Board of Education voted to accept an offer to purchase Aberdeen Primary School.

District officials recommended the offer – from the Pinecrest Wrestling Club Sandcats (PWCS) – be accepted. The unanimous vote happened at the board’s Monday, November 9 Regular Business Meeting, held at Union Pines High School.

PWCS, according to the offer, will pay $120,000 for the property.

Approval by the school board launches an upset bid process.

The board also voted, 7-0, to approve the sale of the old Aberdeen Elementary School to Pathfinder Investment Management, LLC. An offer of $1.5 million for the site was approved at the school board’s September 8 session. The acceptance was based on advice from district staff.

The old Aberdeen Elementary Schools is located on U.S. Highway 1.

Additionally, during Monday’s meeting, the district recommended the board approve school improvement plans for several schools in the district over two academic years, including 2020-21. Among the schools are Aberdeen Elementary, Cameron Elementary, Carthage Elementary, Elise Middle School, Highfalls Elementary, Pinehurst Elementary, Pinecrest High School, Robbins Elementary, Southern Middle School, Southern Pines Elementary and West Pine Middle.
