Car flips in Vass crash

A two-vehicle collision on U.S. Highway 1 Friday sent one driver to the hospital and left his car upside down in a wood line. The crash happened just after 10 p.m. in the northbound lanes about a mile from Vass city limits.

A Nissan Sentra and a Mazda collided, sending both vehicles off the road. The Mazda went 20-30 feet into the woods before slamming into a group of pine trees, causing heavy front-end damage. The Nissan hit a small hill used for drainage, causing it to go airborne before flipping over and landing on its roof.

The male driver of the Nissan was transported to Moore Regional Hospital, but his condition is unknown at this time. The male driver of the Mazda was checked out at the scene but was not transported to the hospital.

N.C. Highway Patrol was on the scene investigating the crash.
