Cardiologist joins Central Carolina Cardiology

Scott Denardo, MD, FACC, FSCAI, FACP, has joined Central Carolina Cardiology effective Monday, March 4.

Dr. Denardo worked most recently as an interventional cardiologist at FirstHealth of the Carolinas (2017-2023), and he is currently a Clinical Associate in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at Duke University Medical Center.

From 2010 to 2017, Dr. Denardo served as an interventional cardiologist at Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton and as Associate Professor of Medicine at Duke University Medical Center. For the three years prior to that, he served as Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at the North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Affairs in Gainesville, FL, and as Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Florida College of Medicine.

From 1993 to 2006, Dr. Denardo served as Co-Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at Moore Regional Hospital (later FirstHealth) and as an interventional cardiologist through Pinehurst Medical Clinic. He is credited with starting the 1st patient-centered coronary stent program in rural North Carolina (August 1993).

Dr. Denardo received his medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco, in 1985. He completed his internship in 1986 and residency in 1988 at the University of California, Los Angeles. Although recently retired from interventional procedures, he maintains board certification in internal medicine/cardiovascular diseases and internal medicine/general medicine.

His clinical interests include coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure/cardiomyopathies, cardiac valve disease, arrhythmias, vascular disease, pericardial disease, systemic hypertension and cardiac rehabilitation/physical conditioning. He also continues interventional research and teaching.

Dr. Denardo joins the practice of Rajiv Swamy, MD, interventional cardiologist, and Anastasia Dolgovskij, PA. He is welcoming new patients at Central Carolina Cardiology, located at 709 Wicker Street, Suite A, in Sanford.
