Carthage man arrested after search warrant leads to discovery of drugs

The Moore County Sheriff’s Department seized suspected drugs and “non-tax-paid spiritous liquor” after executing a search warrant at a home in Carthage on Thursday.

“On February 15th, 2024, detectives with the Moore County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant in the 100 block of Richland Creek Lane in Carthage,” said Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields in a statement issued to Sandhills Sentinel. “During the investigation, detectives located methamphetamine, marijuana, multiple items of drug paraphernalia, and non-tax-paid spirituous liquor. The executed search warrant was the conclusion of a drug investigation.”

Matthew Warren, 36, of Carthage, was arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine, maintaining a vehicle, dwelling, or place to keep a controlled substance, simple possession of schedule VI-controlled substance, possession of non-taxpaid alcohol, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Warren was committed to the Moore County Detention Center under a $5,000 secured bond with a court date on Feb. 29. He is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
