Carthage man facing 26 drug charges

A 55-year-old man from Carthage is due in court next week after being arrested on 26 charges following a drug investigation in Pinebluff.

“On August 16, 2022, Deputies with the Moore County Sheriff’s Office conducted a drug investigation in the 400 block of North Walnut Street in Pinebluff,” said Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields in a news statement. “During the investigation, Deputies seized oxycodone, morphine, and items of drug paraphernalia. Oxycodone and morphine are schedule II controlled substances under the North Carolina controlled substance act.”

Joseph Barber, Jr. was placed at the Moore County Detention Center under a $160,000 secured bond.

He is facing charges of three counts of possession with intent to sell and deliver schedule II controlled substance, two counts of sell schedule II controlled substance, two counts of deliver schedule II controlled substance, two counts of trafficking in opium or heroin by sell, two counts of trafficking in opium or heroin by delivery, three counts of trafficking in opium or heroin by transport, three counts of trafficking in opium or heroin by possession, two counts of maintaining a vehicle/dwelling place for controlled substances, three counts of simple possession of schedule II controlled substance, and three counts of possession of drug paraphernalia. Joseph Lee Barber, Jr. was also served with an outstanding warrant out of Anson County for sell/deliver schedule II controlled substance.

Defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
