A two-vehicle crash brought the evening rush hour traffic to a halt in Carthage on Tuesday evening. The crash happened on U.S. 15-501 in front of Cox’s Service Center just before 6 p.m.
According to officials on scene, a Dodge Durango and a Nissan passenger car collided in the southbound lane, causing the Dodge to overturn and come to a stop on its driver’s side. The Nissan sustained significant front-end damage.
A second rescue was dispatched due to a person trapped in one of the vehicles, but it was later cancelled after the person was safely removed from their vehicle.
The two occupants of the Nissan and the sole occupant of the Dodge were all transported to Moore Regional Hospital.

The southbound lane of U.S. 15-501 was shut down while crews worked the scene and the vehicles were removed. The Carthage Police Department was on scene investigating the crash alongside the Moore County Sheriff’s Office. No further details were released on scene.Â
Responding units included the Carthage Fire Department, Moore County EMS, the Carthage Police Department, and the Moore County Sheriff’s Office.
