Two Carthage women were arrested Tuesday for breaking and entering and animal cruelty, according to a news release from Moore County Sheriff’s Office.

Moore County deputies responded to a breaking and entering of a Carthage home.  During the investigation, deputies arrested Wanda and Martha Hardy who lives next to the victim and seized 17 dogs from the the mother and daughter’s home. 

Wanda Hardy, age 63, and Martha Hardy, age 24, were charged with one count of felony breaking and entering, one count of felony larceny, and one count of felony possession of stolen goods.  Wanda Hardy was also charged with one count of felony animal cruelty, according to Sheriff Godfrey.

Both women were placed in the Moore County Detention Center, and Wanda Hardy has a $20,000 bond while Martha Hardy has a $10,000 bond.

Both women live on Hwy 15-501 in Carthage and have a September 27th court date, according to arrest records.
