Charges pending after rollover near Vass

Charges for a suspected DWI are pending for a driver after the vehicle she was driving was involved in a rollover on Thursday night outside Vass. The single-vehicle crash happened in the 2000 block of Lobelia Road near the intersection of Twin Ponds Lane.

Emergency units were dispatched just after 9 p.m. and arrived within minutes to find a Hyundai SUV upside down on the shoulder of the road.

According to authorities with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, who were on the scene investigating, the vehicle was traveling east on Lobelia Road when the female driver ran off the shoulder of the road and overcorrected. She lost control of the vehicle, hit the ditch, and flipped over. The vehicle came to a stop on its roof and sustained heavy damage.

The male passenger had minor injuries and was transported to Moore Regional Hospital along with the female driver to be evaluated.

Lobelia Road was shut down while crews worked the scene, and the vehicle was removed.

Responding units included Cypress Pointe Fire Department, Moore County EMS, Moore County Sheriff’s Office, and the N.C. Highway Patrol.
