Coffee with a Deputy was a great success, and the Moore County Sheriff’s Office will continue Coffee with a Deputy all around Moore County in order to reach as many citizens as possible.

Moore County Sheriff’s Office, Southern Pines Police Department, and Aberdeen Police Department gathered together with the community at Mean Bean Coffee in Carthage Tuesday morning.

Coffee with a Deputy is a way to build relationships and discuss community issues between law enforcement and the community in a friendly, informal enviroment while enjoying a good cup of coffee. The program is intended to break down barriers and allows for a relaxed, one-on-one interaction.

“It a great opportunity for my deputies and I to hear from our customers; we are here to serve the citizens of Moore County,” said Sheriff Godfrey. “More often than not we meet people in emergency situations; the intent of informal events is to form a relationship prior to an emergency so we can better assist people in their time of need. I would like to thank everyone who participated as well as Mean Bean Coffee for their sponsorship.”

The program aims to advance the practice of community policing through improving relationships between deputies, police officers and community members, one cup of coffee at a time.
