Crack cocaine seized during traffic stop

Crack cocaine and other drugs were seized by Southern Pines Police Wednesday during a traffic stop.

In a press release, the police department said a directed patrol unit pulled over 43-year-old Lorenzo Engle, of Southern Pines, “knowing his North Carolina driver’s license had been suspended.”

Police seized .6 grams of crack cocaine, 6.7 grams of marijuana, 51 grams of an unknown controlled substance, a set of digital scales and $446 in cash.

The suspect was placed at the Moore County Detention Center under a $75,000 bond.

Engle was arrested with a Hamlet woman on drug charges in May by sheriff’s deputies following a search on U.S. Highway 1 South. Sheriff Fields said a warrant was obtained after the conclusion of a drug investigation. During the search, cocaine and marijuana were confiscated.
