Motorcyclist killed in Cameron crash

A male motorcycle rider died in a collision with a pickup truck on Friday morning. The crash happened at the intersection of Bass Road and North Carolina Highway 24-27 near the Sky Mart in Cameron around 5:30 a.m.

Though first responders administered CPR on the unidentified motorcyclist after arriving, their attempts were unsuccessful.

Authorities said the truck was turning left on Bass Road and hit the oncoming motorcycle. Charges are pending against the truck driver, who was not injured.

Death of motorcyclist under investigation after Cameron crash

Early morning traffic backed up for over a mile on the state highway. Many drivers turned around on the less busy rural Bass Road or were forced to find alternate routes while authorities investigated the scene.

Cypress Pointe Fire and Rescue, North Carolina State Highway Patrol, and Moore County EMS responded.
