A woman was seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash on Thursday afternoon. The crash happened on Hillmon Grove Road just over the Harnett County line and prompted a response from nearby Moore units.
Crains Creek Fire Department was dispatched at 2:42 p.m. and arrived within minutes to find a Ford SUV that had run off the road and struck a tree. The vehicle was heavily damaged, and the driver was pinned inside.
After the scene was assessed, Spout Springs Fire Department was called to assist with a second rescue due to the extent of the damage done to the vehicle and the effort it would take to extricate the driver.
The driver, who was the only occupant, was extricated from the vehicle at 3:25 p.m. She was trapped in her vehicle for over forty minutes until crews were able to safely remove her.
A landing zone was established by Cypress Pointe Fire Department, but air transport was ultimately canceled. The patient was taken by Benhaven/Harnett EMS to a trauma center. Her condition is currently unknown.
No further details regarding the cause of the crash have been released at this time.Â
Responding agencies included Crains Creek Fire Department, Spout Springs Fire Department, Cypress Pointe Fire Department, Benhaven/Harnett EMS, and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
