A man was trapped in his vehicle after it overturned near the Pinehurst Country Club beach club on Tuesday afternoon. The single-vehicle crash occurred shortly before 2 p.m. in the area of Diamondhead Drive and Burning Tree Road.Â
According to authorities on scene, the car had been traveling uphill when it rolled and came to rest on its roof along the roadway. The cause of the crash was not immediately known and is under investigation.
The driver was trapped inside the smoking vehicle when first responders arrived. Aircare was initially requested, but the helicopter transport was canceled after crews safely removed the man and evaluated his condition.
The road was closed briefly while firefighters and police cleared debris and investigated the cause of the wreck, which remains under investigation.
