Rassie Wicker Park in Pinehurst was busy place Saturday, filled with kids and parents from around the state as the Athletic Club of the Sandhills hosted the Girl’s Spring Lacrosse Recreational League.

An impressive example of girl power was on display as teams competed in four age brackets. The goal of youth lacrosse is teach the fundamentals of throwing, catching shooting and defense. Teamwork and good sportsmanship is also emphasized.

Our own Athletic Club of the Sandhills 10U team, age 10 and under, faced off against the Wake Forest Whippets and came out with a 11-4 win, making their record 4 wins with out a loss for the season.

“I thought our team was tenacious on defense, said Co-Coach Paul Ferdinand of Pinehurst.  ” On offense they played selflessly, spreading the ball around to all of their teammates. Good all around effort.”
