Local law enforcement are currently investigating a potential threat of school violence allegedly made by a Pinecrest High School student on social media.

Moore County Schools issued a statement Sunday evening saying they are aware of social media posts of a student allegedly making threats against Pinecrest High School.

A short time later, The school announced that the Moore County Schools Police and staff met with the student and family to investigate the alleged threats and “do not believe the threat to have been credible.”

However, there will be an increased police presence on the school grounds Monday as a precautionary measure.

Pinecrest High School PTSA posted on social media an update from the student’s mother saying that her child is being targeted by bullies. The mother said her child does not have access to a “gun of any kind.”  The mother stated that she will “get to the bottom of this vicious rumor.”

This is a developing story and will be updated when new information is available.
