A local firefighter lost his life in a traffic accident Friday evening. Corbin Rogers, 20, of Carthage, died at the scene, near Woodlake.

Rogers was a member of Carthage Fire & Rescue and had recently begun working at Spring Lake Fire Department five months ago. He had been attending ladder training at the Spring Lake Fire Department and was on his way home when the accident occurred.

The accident occurred near the intersection of Lobelia Road and McGill Road just before 5 p.m. The driver of the other vehicle was transported to the hospital and is expected to recover. The cause of the accident is unknown at this time.

Carthage Fire & Rescue posted on their Facebook page overnight, “Our hearts at CFR along with Spring Lake Fire are saddened by the news of losing one of our own. A very young man with high motivation and dedication taken too soon. His family and friends are in our thoughts and prayers.”
