Man arrested for kidnapping, statutory rape of 14-year-old female

A man from Parkton, North Carolina is being held at the Moore County Detention Center on a $500,000 secured bond for second-degree kidnapping, statutory rape of a child, statutory sex offense with a child and indecent liberties with a child on Aug. 8, 2021.

He is also on a $200,000 secured bond for statutory rape of the same child and indecent liberties with the same child on June 19, 2021.

Moore County Sheriff’s Major Andy Conway said the age of the child is 14, that the crimes occurred in Vass, and were reported by the parent of the child.

The missing child “left voluntarily with Noah Braxton but without consent from her parents,” said Conway. The family knows the 19-year-old suspect.

Braxton was taken into custody with the help of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department without incident.

He is due in court on Aug. 26 and is considered innocent until proven guilty.
