A man actively suffering from severe burns was left at a Dollar General in Westmoore around 9 p.m. Monday night. The patient exited a vehicle in the Dollar General parking lot, situated off Highway 705 in Robbins, and proceeded to seek help.
Witnesses reported hearing a person within the vehicle yelling from the car before they drove off and left him in the parking lot. The man then reportedly entered the Dollar General in search of help before exiting the store again.Â
The patient was transported to the UNC Burn Center for treatment. A witness told Sandhills Sentinel that the victim had significant burns on his torso and head.
His shirt was still smoking and smoldering in the parking lot even after he was transported by EMS.Â
The incident remains under investigation. No cause or further details have been released at this time.Â
Responding to the scene were Moore County EMS, Moore County Public Safety, and the Moore County Sheriff’s Office.
