The Aberdeen Police Department announced the arrest of Joseph Lee Jacobs, 32 years of age, of Pinebluff.
On July 5, just after midnight, Aberdeen officers responded to Ma’s Exxon in reference to a possible breaking or entering in progress.
Upon arrival, officers located a rock that had been used to break the glass door of the business, and the window was completely shattered; there was an audible alarm. Officers attempted to locate the suspect, but he had already left the scene.
Officers then reviewed surveillance video and confirmed that, while the suspect attempted to enter the building, he was unable to do so and took nothing.
Aberdeen detectives investigated the incident and identified Jacobs as a person of interest. After additional investigation, Jacobs’ identity was confirmed, and warrants were obtained on Aug. 7 for Attempted Felony Breaking or Entering a Building and Misdemeanor Injury to Real Property.
On Aug. 7, Jacobs turned himself in to the Aberdeen Police Department. He was taken before a Moore County Magistrate, where he received a $1,000 secured bond.
