A motorcycle driver was seriously injured after crashing his bike Saturday evening in Pinebluff. The accident occurred on Pinebluff Lake Road near the intersection with Allen Lane around 8:30 p.m.

The motorcycle was traveling from Countryside Estates toward US 15-501 at a reported high rate of speed when he ran off the left hand side of the road. The motorcycle traveled down the side of the road crashing into several mailboxes along the way before coming to a halt in the road.

When emergency crews arrived, they found the driver lying just off the road. He was not wearing a helmet. Due to the extent of the wreck, a helicopter was dispatched and landed at the ball-field in Pinebluff. He was then flown to a trauma center.

The North Carolina Highway Patrol was on the scene and is investigating the cause of the accident.

Responding to the scene were Pinebluff Fire & Rescue, Aberdeen Fire & Rescue, Pinebluff Police Department, Moore County Sheriff’s Department, and the NC Highway Patrol.
